One of the primary reasons for people's failure to quit smoking can be attributed to ingrained buried ideas that may be difficult to change. Truly, stopping this ruinous and bad habit is a matter of a transformation of one's way of thinking. Let's discuss 10 ways to quit smoking:
1. Learn about the many, many, many hazards of smoking. A great majority smokers fail to quit because they fail to realize the fatal effects of smoking. Even worse, a majority of these smokers already know the hazards of smoking, but they cling to the false belief that they're not true - that is, until they get the particular ailment or disease themselves.
2. Remind yourself that you're not immune from ailments and diseases. You're a mere mortal. You're no alien from a dead world. Your system is fragile to damage and injury, and smoking balloons that number a dozen fold. You're not exempt from the hazards of smoking. You're no different from any other person: you're only human.
3. Tell yourself that you are better than how you currently are. If you want to, you won't have to surrender to the smallest desire to smoke. If someone asks you to jump in front of a speeding car, will you? You're not a fool, right? So, you're not an idiot to remove seven minutes of your life with every smoke.
4. Never view a cigarette as a prize. It never is.
5. Remember that smoking will never make you hip. These days, when people would rather be healthy and live a long life, smokers are viewed with scorn.
6. Realize that though smoking may seem to help you calm down, it will come with a exorbitant price. The dangers of smoking are too dire to neglect. Would you rather enjoy a few stress-free minutes at the expense of a lot of years reduced from your life?
7. There's no rule that says you should smoke after eating. Smoking won't remove the taste of food inside your mouth. Want to get rid of the same? Brush your teeth instead.
8. Know that when you smoke in communal area, you're possibly affecting the health of anyone near you. Second hand smoke is just as hazardous as first hand smoke. When you smoke in a public venue, you are comparable to a symbol of disease.
9. Learn that smoking will not help you lose weight. Cigarettes burn your throat, not reduce fat.
10. Remember that smoking won't help you concentrate at work. It's just a mind thing. It's all about you and not what you depend on.
