By: Sam Knopler

As a human, it can often be hard to ask for help or to admit that you need help in the first place. This behavior is very common in those who are older, because in many ways they do not want to relinquish their independence. Some of the simplest things can be the hardest to ask assistance for. This includes things like help getting up off of the couch and assistance using the bathroom. The remote or call buttons are large enough that they can easily be used by individuals with limited site and most remotes are physically attached to the chair to ensure that they do not become easily lost. The backrest and footrest of a lift chair is also motorized, so it is very easy to adjust the chair.

This is very rewarding and aside from the obvious safety benefits of a lift chair, they also have many physiological benefits. If you own a lift chair than it is no longer necessary to always have someone on hand to help you get up after watching your nightly TV show. As a caregiver or loved one, you do not have to worry that your parent might slip and fall if you are not always there when they wish to get up, so in this regard the physiological benefits go both ways. This type of personal lifting device can greatly increase independence and restore freedom.
