Know How to Market in Person

is sometimes overlooked as a form of marketing is because they rarely are able to survive on their own. If a person is just handed a business card they aren’t likely to know of any specific reason why they should do business with that company.

They know the name and the contact information, sure, but is that really a reason to give your money and your business to one company over another? The majority of marketing is meant to give people specific reasons why their company is the best for whoever they’re marketing to.

Consider the difference between postcard printing and business cards. The average custom postcard is going to be able to function completely on its own. It sends a message and doesn’t need a person there as well talking about what the postcard is about. If you get that postcard in the mail you’ll read everything you need to know right there and be able to make your decision whether or not to shop at the company based on what the postcard said.

Normally this kind of distinction doesn’t matter that much because the majority of marketing material is going to be sent out on its own anyways, so you won’t have to consider whether or not it needs further support. When going to an event where you’ll be there in person things can change, and you’ll need to take a closer look at what you end up bringing with you.

Consider this: many people when going to these events only bring along the material that requires further explanation. They’ll bring a number of business cards and things like that, but they certainly aren’t going to get any custom postcard done for it. Even though they might be in the middle of a postcard marketing campaign, they’ll still avoid actually bringing any of those with them because they separate their normal marketing from event marketing.

But why not bring other marketing with you that people can then take home with them? The thing about marketing at these events to consider is that you just won’t be able to talk to everyone. There will be those who stop by your booth but don’t actually ask you any questions or get a chance to talk to you. These are the people who will benefit the most from just having material to pick up that doesn’t require any explanation.

They’ll walk away with a lot of your advertisements to encourage them to do business with you and you can be certain to get the most benefit from your tradeshow appearance thanks to this extra marketing material.

If you’re going to get your advertising made anyways, you might as well find as many different ways to make use out of it.
