Miami Dolphins: Ticketnest

The Miami Dolphins-a professional American football team located in Miami, Florida Metropolitan Area. Presently, the Dolphins are members of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Dolphins started playing in the American Football League as an expansion team in 1966, and connected the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL Merger.
The Miami Dolphin’s debut in its first Super Bowl following the 1971 season in Super Bowl VI, unfortunately they lost to Dallas Cowboys. In 1972, the Dolphins best time was the NFL's only ideal season to make history in the Super Bowl epoch; they won every regular season game, two playoff games and Super Bowl VII. In addition the team also won Super Bowl VIII; they became the first team to emerge in three consecutive Super Bowls, plus the second overall team (first was AFL/AFC team) to stood victorious in back-to-back championships. Dolphins though also appeared in Super Bowl XVII and Super Bowl XIX but unfortunately lost both games.
Mainly, the Dolphins have been coached by Don Shula. Five distinct Hall of Fame memebers including running back Larry Csonka and quarterback Bob Griese played during the period of 1970s. For the era of 1980s and 1990s quarterback Dan Marino remained the most productive passer in NFL history, treading numerous league passing records. He guided the Dolphins to various playoff emergence and also Super Bowl XIX.
One of the most encouraging comments given to the dolphins was really a mirror to the team’s hard work. "The dolphin is one of the fastest and smartest creatures of the sea," Joe Robbie said in announcing the team name on October 8, 1965. "Dolphins can attack and kill a shark or a whale. Sailors say bad luck will come to anyone who harms one of them."
The name of the team has a particular significance. There was a contest held to discover the name of the new Miami franchise for the American Football League in 1965. 19,843 Entries submitted surpassed 19,843 notes suggesting more than thousand different names. After screening a dozen finalists were chosen by a seven-member committee made up of the local media, names thought included the Mariners, Marauders, Mustangs, Missiles, Moons, Sharks, and Suns. But finally the winning name, "Dolphins," was suggested by 622 entrants. Lucky Mrs. Roberta Swanson of West Miami was successful in winning lifetime passes to Dolphin games as her nickname entry successfully prophesized the winner and score of the 1965 football game between Notre Dame and the University of Miami, it was a scoreless tie.
Just about few minor changes over the years, the logo and uniforms of the team fundamentally remained the same. The logo is a dolphin wearing a helmet jumping in front of an orange sunburst. Whereas the uniform design involves white helmets, orange trim, and either white or aqua green jerseys. Dolphins also sometimes wear either white or aqua green pants.
On the team's logo debuted that was in 1966, the head of the dolphin was positioned near the center of the sunburst. But the dolphin's body was centered on the sunburst in 1974. Because of the reason that so many times team's name and mascot, the Dolphins are referred to as "The fish," though of course the fact remains there that real dolphins are actually mammals, not fish.
The addition of dark blue was done to the logo and uniforms as an accent color in 1997. The hash marks were removed around the perimeters of logo's sunburst, plus the dolphin's features were emphasized.
Miami falls under one of the three NFL (http://www.ticketnest.com/NFL.php) teams that chiefly wear their white jerseys at home (the others two are the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins), while they will dress in their aqua jerseys during the night games. The Dolphins have started wearing a substitute orange jersey once each season for home Monday Night Football contests, since the season of 2003. They are 2-0 in games dressed in the alternate jersey (each of which was comebacks against the Washington Redskins in 2003 and against ultimate Super Bowl champs and Division-rivals the New England Patriots in 2004). The Dolphins were not dressed in orange jerseys during the 2005 season as they had no night games.
New coach Nick Saban did not have the Dolphins wear the aqua pants with the white jerseys, as an alternative chosing the all-white outfit in 2005. Earlier to Saban's advent, the team conventionally wore all-white at home moreover aqua pants with white jerseys on the road under former coach Dave Wannstedt. The Dolphins have worn an all-aqua combination for prime-time games only on two particular events, that is defeating the Chicago Bears in 2002 and the Cleveland Browns in 2004.
