Opening a Roth IRA

By: Military Money and Matters

The BIGGEST question that everyone wants to know is where do I open a Roth IRA? Well, this is often one of the most difficult question to answer. By personal experience, I opened a Roth IRA at Vanguard. I chose them because they have a very low expense ratio (I will talk about that later) and good customer service. They have a wide variety of mutual funds to chose from. I also heard Fidelity is also good, with low expense ratios and fantastic customer service. There is a good website that I would like to point out called Investor Trip that has a list of all of the companies that one can open a Roth IRA with. So the bottom line is that one needs to do a lot of research to determine which company is the best for them.
So here are a few tips in finding a good company to open the Roth IRA with.

1. No loads (upfront fees).
2. Low expense ratios
3. Good Customer service for the small investor.
4. Ability to make free automatic online payments.

I will expand on each of these on a later date and what each of them mean. So go out and do your research and start a Roth IRA today!! If anyone else has any other tips for my readers, please write in the comment sections.
