Watches play a very vital role in everyone's life. In this fast pacing world it is very necessary that we keep a regular track of time. Over the years there have been much technological advancement in the watch industry and finally this is the era of wrist watches. In this present age people around the world are craving for wrist watches which are trendy, handy and also more technologically advanced. However just before the era of wrist watches there was the presence of another type of watches which captured the market like anything. This watch was known by the name of Pocket watch. Pocket watch, as quite clearly evident from its name is a watch that rests on your pocket and has certain attributes that are discussed in the further portion of the article.

Precisely pocket watch is a strapless time piece which is kept in the pocket. Generally chains are attached to it whose other end is attached to a lapel, waistcoat or a belt loop so as to make it more secured. Pocket watches are also characterized by a hinged cover that is given in order to protect the glass of the watch and the watch itself. As the ornament or the chain that is present on the pocket watches are known as fobs these watches are known as fob watches. Another major feature of Pocket Watchespocket watches is that it has an analog time display. Pocket watches are made in such a manner so as to be an analog watch only. Though the exact date of the origin of this watch is not known, an earlier reference of the same can be traced back to a letter in November 1462 when an Italian clockmaker offered a pocket watch to a person named Marchese di Manta. During the 16th century the manufacturing of pocket watches spread all over the Europe and gradually all over the world.

Though Pocket watches are not in demand now still there are many antique and vintage pocket watches which are sold. So a person interested in keeping antique things can take an interest in the same. There are several collections of different brands which are available for sale. Some of the most renowned branded pocket watches are Hamilton Pocket watch, Waltham Pocket watch, Hampden Pocket watch, Charles Hubert Pocket watch, Avalon Pocket watch etc. All these watches are durable and are of good quality.
