Schoolmates: Missing the Messenger Chat boom?

By: Doug

Have you ever considered whatever happened to your high school sweetheart? How about your best acquaintance whom you lost contact with overtime? There is probably a good chance that you have tried to contact them, but alas, many of those individuals get married or move away. This may make it difficult to contact those that you used to know. That is unless you join one of the very common online social networking websites, known as Schoolmates. Schoolmates allows you to stay in contact with old friends by using free chat rooms and messenger chat.

Although Schoolmates is considered a social networking site, it is unique in many different ways. This is because Schoolmates focuses on connections that were made in school, whether it be elementary school, high school, or college. Although it is encouraged that you contact those that you know from school, you are able to contact just about anyone once you join the website. The ability to make connections with new people is one of the characteristics that makes Schoolmates a social networking site worth joining.

The most common problem that may web users have when contacting former classmates is the fact that it is often required that you have a paid membership. There is a free membership plan, but you have limited functions on the site. Even though you are required to become a paid member to enjoy what Schoolmates has to offer, it is well worth it. In addition to being well the money spent, the membership fee is easy to afford. Currently, there are three different levels of membership that you can subscribe to, the highest being only 5 Euros a month.

If you are interested in learning more what Schoolmates has to offer, you can easily do so by visiting their online website at www.schoolmates.com. Once you arrive at their main page, you will need to go through the process of selecting your school. Once that has been completed, you will then need to create a user profile. Although this profile is part of what will be exhibited on the site; once you officially become a member you can add more details to your profile.

With a free membership you can post your own profile and view profiles from other fellow members in messenger chat rooms. You will find that viewing the profiles of different users, the majority of those being people you went to school with, is easy. Schoolmates has divided all members into specific categories. These categories not only include the schools that everyone went to, but also the years that they attended. The result is that whether you graduated in 1970 or 2000, you should easily be able to obtain selective information on your classmates.

Even though you can view different member profiles with a free membership, you can not contact them. To make contact with those that you have lost touch with, you will need to become a paying member. As discussed earlier, this membership is relatively easy to afford. Once you have become a paid member, you can not only contact your schoolmates one by one, but you can also send out broadcast messages or announcements to everyone that you went to school with or chat with messenger rooms. A paid membership also gives you the power to use the message boards.

By signing up with Schoolmates, you will not only be able to make contact with your old schoolmates and acquaintances, but you may also even be able to renew old relationships or make new ones using free chat rooms and messenger chat. Reconnecting with your old acquaintances and making new ones, what could be better than that?
