Using a Lift Chair for Safety

It is not always easy nor is it always painless for individuals to stand up from a sitting position. While standing is something that is quite frequently done during the entirety of ones life, generally as age progresses, this task becomes much harder. There are many additional things that can make this task difficult, so it is not only limited to age. Arthritis is one of the more common factors that can increase the difficulty of standing, but there are many other disorders that can affect ones joints and mobility. In many cases around the United States and even the World, lift chairs have been shown to help solve the problem of standing independently.
In many regards, a lift chair is similar to the recliner that adorns most living rooms. They quite often look very similar and offer almost identical services, but lift chairs also lend a helping hand when it comes time to stand up. This helping hand comes in the form of a strong lifting system that raises the chair and its occupant up and to a near standing position. The chair can be easily controlled by the occupant using an easy to use remote with large buttons. Not only do these chairs make it much easier to stand, but they also make it much safer to do so.
In many cases, the ability to stand on ones own and without the need for having someone present is in and of itself a godsend, but these chairs also offer excellent comfort and functionality. Not only can the chair be easily raised into the air, but the backrest and the leg rest are also just as easily raised or lowered. An electric motor controls both of these parts of the chair and allow for instant and easy configuration. Included in many of these chairs, as either a special feature or an available option, is a system that provides an invigorating massage to the person who is sitting in the chair. Chairs that feature the massage system also usually feature a built in heat system that is very soothing on sore muscles and works in tandem with the massage to offer superior comfort.
Most lift chairs, like those made by Golden Technologies, also feature a system that can be used in the event of a power outage. This battery backup will allow an individual to raise the chair, which will make sure that there is no time when you or a loved one will become stranded in the chair. The entire chair is lifted by a single 9-volt battery, the same type that you would find in your fire extinguisher. The battery can only safely be relied upon to lift the chair once though, so it should be replaced after use. In lieu of being used, it should be replaced annually.
It has been over 20 years since the first lift chair recliner was introduced and since then, the chairs have come an exceptionally long way. Their quality and safety has increased, while their price has lowered and today it is possible to get set up in an elegant lift chair for a very affordable rate.
