You Are Getting Sleepy - The Power Of The Hypnotic State

As we now settle into the 21st Century we see more and more uses of hypnosis as a medical tool. It is a long time since we associated hypnosis with a white bearded man or a stage entertainer. Although stage hypnotism is still very popular, and entertaining, hypnosis and self hypnosis are much more mainstream and respected now than in the past.

Since the latter part of the 20th Century hypnosis and self hypnosis have been embraced by mainstream medicine. Hypnosis is not only used as a means of pain control but is also a very important psychological tool. This is one of the reasons behind the sharp rise in self hypnosis products. Not only are psychological and psychiatric disorders treated with hypnosis, such as dealing with traumatic experiences, memories and the effects of psychological trauma but it, along with self hypnosis, has been successfully employed by top athletes, business men and even Hollywood stars!

In the popular field of self hypnosis it is common to see it used throughout the western world for the treatment of allergies, weight control, stress, bed-wetting and even depression. Recent studies with self hypnosis have shown it to be a great treatment for gastrointestinal disorders such as IBS and its ability to reduce blood pressure, anesthetize pain, treat burns, nausea, asthma, sexual dysfunction and even help with childbirth have made it an all-round therapeutic remedy!

The power behind self hypnosis is in its ability to deal directly with the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind merely refers to the part of your mind that thinks automatically. Most times we are unaware of its constant activity. The unconscious mind is responsible for our automatic behaviour.

The conscious mind, by contrast, is just the part of the mind we identify with during the day. It is the thinking reasoning part of us.

In order to change behaviours, eliminate emotional stresses or create new automatic actions and reactions all that is needed is access to the unconscious mind. By gaining access to our automatic thinking/feeling nature we have direct control over our automatic behaviours. It is mostly our automatic behaviours that determine how we interact with people and life in general. This means that any behaviour can be modified, removed or installed using self hypnosis.

By using cutting-edge psychological technologies it is possible to use self hypnosis to gain access to the unconscious part of the mind and remove unwanted automatic thoughts, feelings or behaviours. Likewise, we can also install behaviours that mirror people we admire. For instance, would you like to have the same automatic drive as Bill Gates? The same drive, determination and focus that made him the wealthiest man in the world can be yours if you chose to use self hypnosis to mirror his thoughts processes and behaviours!

In the same way that athletes use self hypnosis, to program their unconscious mind with the blueprint of success, drive, persistence and belief in themselves, so can you!

Many great self hypnosis sessions and hypnotists get their clients to mirror people who automatically display the behaviours that the client wishes to acquire. This is easily done if the motivating factors behind the behaviour are known. Much research has been conducted into the psychological nature of high achievers - how they think, feel and react to things. With a skilled hypnotist or clever self hypnosis recording it is possible to mirror these thoughts and feelings, which are the motivators and driving force of the desired behaviour.

For instance if a client wanted more confidence the therapist would identify a person that the client believed was confident. Once the client had identified why they believe this person was confident (the way they move, talk, gesture, relax etc.) then it is just a matter of undergoing hypnosis and performing some simple NLP exercises to implant the same behaviours! This is also just as easily done with self hypnosis!

As we can see hypnosis and self hypnosis are powerful tools for self change and the limits of their ability to affect the mind have not yet been discovered!
